About the Author

Wayne Magee is a native north-eastern Ohioan, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree, cum laude, from one of the nation's oldest music schools, Youngstown State University’s “Dana School of Music”. During his time at YSU, he was privileged to perform in the University's Symphony Orchestra; America's oldest collegiate orchestra, under the baton of the late Mr. William Slocum.

Wayne later earned a Master of Science degree, in Leadership Science, from Northeastern University's "College of Professional Studies" in Boston. His music career began in working with the community youth touring field and concert band, the "Warren Junior Military Band", the band was composed of students from all over the Midwestern state's region. He later served a summer as brass and marching instructor for the Liberty High School “Golden Leopards Marching Band," a band of which he was a lead trumpeter and student conductor alumni. Wayne is a freelanced trumpeter, music educator, and conductor. He has performed in local bands enjoying genres from gospel, jazz, Americana, to the contemporary sounds of today.

​Wayne is a proud Eagle Scout and holds professional affiliations, memberships, with the National Eagle Scout Association (NESA),  the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) and the National Band Association (NBA). Lieutenant Commander Magee has been working in the University of Massachusetts system, serving at Massachusetts Maritime Academy since 2008, in the Residential Life and Student Services department as the administrator in charge of the "7th Company" student dormitory complex. Wayne also has the distinct honor of being the longest-tenured director of the "Pride of the Regiment ", the Regimental Band, Honor Guard, and Drill Team along with directorship over the Student Leadership Training program. Wayne also has the honor of serving as an adjunct professor at Bridgewater State University in the Department of Management at the "Louis M. Ricciardi School of Business". 

Wayne is a passionate consultant to many, where he advises leaders on developing others within their organizations, as well as, internal and external best practices on effective communications coupled with strategic planning. Wayne is also a published author, photographer, poet and essayist. He has written on topics ranging from diversity, professional career development, personal growth to personal finance.

Wayne and his wife Lindsay live near Boston. They enjoying biking and hiking together in their free time.
